Pedestrian Route Detours
As school starts up, here is a reminder of the safe walking routes to local schools between 4100 South and 3500 South. Please see flyer for a map of the routes.
- 3500 South: Pedestrians will use the south sidewalk on 3500 South. Please use caution while walking near the construction area and follow signs/signals/flaggers.
- 4100 South: The north and south side sidewalks on 4100 South are open. Follow signs and new traffic signals where haul trucks enter the construction zone.
- Cilma Drive Detour: The Cilma Drive detour provides access from both east and west of the construction zone to Ascent Academy. This detour route has a sidewalk for pedestrians. Please use this designated route to travel through the construction zone. Flaggers may be directing traffic and pedestrians on the Cilma Drive Detour while hauling operations occur.
S.R. 201 Southeast Frontage Road
As part of this construction, utility work will be done under the southeast S.R. 201 Frontage Road. Both utility work and the final design of the roadway require eliminating access to 5600 West for westbound traffic on the southeast S.R. 201 Frontage Road. Westbound motorists will now stop at 5370 West, turn left (south to 2400 South, and turn right (west) to access 5600 West. Motorists on 5600 West will still have access to go eastbound on the frontage road. The permanent closure is expected to be in place by July 26.
3705 South and 5725 West
As part of construction, the sewer line running underneath 3705 South will be replaced. This work will result in traffic detours. It is projected to begin on July 29 and last for approximately two weeks. During this time, there will be traffic barricades and signs at the Intersections of Masters Drive/Cilma Drive and 3640 South and 5725 West. Only residents of Masters Drive, 5725 West, and 3705 South will be allowed to enter the work area. These residents will be accommodated by work crews to access their properties. Darle Avenue
Night work is projected for August 25 to August 29 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be working on drainage for the pedestrian underpass. Residents in the area may notice an increase of noise. Work will be done in accordance to the night work noise permit obtained from Salt Lake County.
Construction activities are weather permitting and are subject to change.
Ongoing Construction Activities:
Canal Trail
The canal trail north of 4100 South will be closed during the entire duration of construction. Please use the sidewalks on 4100 South.
Cilma Drive
The Cilma Drive detour route between Marsha Drive and Masters Drive is open. This detour will be in place for approximately 10 months (spring 2020) while the new structure and Cilma Drive are constructed. The detour route has a sidewalk for pedestrians. Please see the map attached.
Hauling activities continue on the Mountain View Corridor and will continue through the summer. Flagging operations will be on the Cilma Drive detour road while hauling operations occur. Motorists and pedestrians will be directed by flaggers as construction equipment crosses the road. Please use caution in this area.
Darle Avenue/Masters Drive
As part of construction of the Mountain View Corridor, several streets in the Darle Avenue and Hunter Park neighborhoods have been permanently closed. These closures began on April 11. This includes Darle Avenue between the residential neighborhood and Hunter Park, all of 5750 West, and Masters Drive north of 3705 South.
The Darle Avenue and Masters Drive trail connections to Hunter Park continue to be closed.. To access Hunter Park and Whittier Elementary please use the sidewalk on the south side of 3500 South. Please do not access the park through the construction zone.
MVC: 4100 South to 3500 South
Construction crews have begun heavy construction on the UDOT property between 4100 South and 3500 South. Please stay out of the construction zone. Motorists and pedestrians traveling to Ascent Academy please use the school’s access off 5600 West or the western access through the Cilma Drive Detour.
4100 South to 3500 South
Night work is expected to occur intermittently between 4100 South and 3500 South through 2019.
MVC: 4100 South to 2700 South
Hauling activities will continue. Haul trucks will enter and exit the construction zone off 4100 South and will cross local streets at the temporary signals on 3500 South, 3100 South and 2700 South. Please do not follow construction vehicles into the work zones. The north sidewalk on 3500 South and 3100 South will continue to be closed for hauling operations. Please continue to use the south sidewalk in those locations. Hauling activities are projected to continue through spring 2020.
3500 South
Scrapers will continue hauling operations over 3500 South. The hauling will occur from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. through early fall. These scrapers have limited visibility and long stopping distances. Please obey the traffic signals on 3500 South. Increased law enforcement may be present at this and other signals.
Intersection of 3500 South/5600 West
Utility investigations will continue at the intersection of 3500 South/5600 West. Motorists can expect shoulder closures in this area while crews are working. This work is projected to be completed by October 2020.
2700 South
One-way flagging operations are projected to continue through early September. Crews will be performing utility work between Jacketta Lane and Caroline Drive/Glen Eagle Drive. Flagging operations will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work will also require shoulder closures on the south side of the road.

Both utility work and the final design of the roadway require eliminating access to 5600 West for westbound traffic on the southeast S.R. 201 Frontage Road. Motorists on 5600 West will still have access to go eastbound on the frontage road.
Utility work is progressing on the eastbound lane. Eastbound motorists will need to turn onto 2400 South off 5600 West, turn left (north) to 5370 West to access the S.R. 201 Frontage Road. This detour will stay in place through 2019. Please see flyer for more information and detour routes.
Motorists can expect a shift in traffic between 5370 West and 4800 West on the S.R. 201 southeast frontage road. This shift will remain in place through 2019. Crews will be doing utility work.
